It doesn't end in Chile!

Summary Image
More than 700 people die in Chile's Earthquake Saturday February 27, 2010.

The 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Chile on Saturday was by far more intense than the earthquake that struck Haiti – so why did more people suffer in Haiti than in Chile?

It might be because Chile is financially better off than Haiti, they are more prepared to handle emergency situations  - or - maybe it was just luck!  Regardless of what the reasons are, the world seems to be going through one catastrophe after another.

So what is going on in the world - first Haiti now Chile? Now there’s a Tsunami warning that may very well stretch along the Pacific and end up in who knows which country/city/town/village?

Geologists say that Chile is on the “ring of fire”, which means that they are on the fault lines of the perimeter of the Pacific Ocean, which makes Chile a key target for some of the frequent and most violent earthquakes in the world.

So what can we do to help?

We can help the victims of Chile and Haiti by spreading the word and asking people to show their support by donating money, clothes, and supplies to their local charities involved in relief work there.  We can also ask these people to join Better The World, support disaster relief causes, and continuously use these online tools to make a positive difference.

My heart and prayers go out to the victims of the earthquakes.
