About This Cause

Need

Due to the lack of sufficient resources, children are deprived from having a decent education. Basic every day classroom materials such as blackboards, chalk and erasers are scarce, and therefore, this makes teaching and learning a challenge rather than a right.

Solution

CARE is dedicated towards changing the way children learn and teachers teach. By supplying schools with adequate learning materials, communities can flourish. CARE Canada is a part of the "Flat Stanley" project. Across North America, school classes make Flat Stanley dolls and mail them around the country, getting back stories and photos of Flat Stanley's travels, which help educate kids about the world around them. In this way, people are aware of the struggles that children go through around the world in order to achieve a decent education.

Impact

Your support will provide both children and teachers with an environment where learning is easy and affordable. Knowledge may be power, but to these youth, education also represents hope. Hope for better understanding, hope for an enhanced standard of living, and most of all, hope for the future.

It Takes a Village: Community-based Education in Rural Cambodia

When the bell rings at the Borkeo secondary school in Cambodia's remote Ratanakiri province, students don't head home; they return to the one-room makeshift dormitory they share with their teacher and nine other girls. Their temporary living quarters were once the principal's office. CARE has just broken ground on a new boarding house for the students, but until it is completed, this is their home.
