Lewa Update - Charlie dies, Rain comes

Summary Image
The last couple of months at Lewa have been harrowing. With the loss of their, and our, beloved orphaned Rhino, Charlie came sadness. This loss was only worsened by the drought which was causing all the wildlife at Lewa serious problems.

The prolonged drought which was reaking havoc on Lewa and the rest of Northern Kenya finally broke when the rain started to fall on Oct 14.

But the rain doesn't end our mourning the loss of orphaned Rhino Charlie , who we have gotten to know through Lewa.  Check out this video of Charlie feeding .  It's heartbreaking.

But there is hope.  Lewa's efforts continue to beat the odds with rates of saving orphaned and endangered Rhinos well above the average rates.  Recently Lewa was able to give a pregnant female antibiotics and multivitamins which have put her on the road to recovery.
